Despite a huge number of games on Thursday night, not many of them did much to change the landscape. For the vast majority of the games, heavily favored teams won as expected. A couple games were worth noting, however.
@Arizona State 79, Utah 77: In the most recent Bracket Brief, both of these teams were out of the tournament sitting on the bubble lines. So a win cannot be understated. It could be said that ASU won narrowly at home, which doesn't sound all that good for the Sun Devils but not bad, and it could be said that Utah lost but nearly won on the road, which sounds decent for the Utes. So we have a bit of a win-win here for the Pac-12. I'm quite looking forward to seeing what ASU can do with the Spencer Dinwiddie-less Colorado Buffalos this weekend.
@Portland 114, BYU 110 (3OT): BYU fell off of the bubble lines on today's Bracket Brief. BYU will struggle to get back with a lack of quality games left on the schedule.
@Washington 80, Oregon 76 - And the Ducks fall yet again, now losing 5 in a row. A team that once looked like a mortal lock to get a very good seed in the NCAA tournament has fallen farther and faster than anyone could have imagined. For those keeping track, this is far worse than Ohio State's or Wisconsin's losing streaks, given the teams Oregon is losing to and where the games are being lost. A lot will depend on other teams over the weekend, but it is quite possible that Oregon could be on the out lines in the next Bracket Brief. Ouch.
Otherwise, college basketball was rather unsurprising for Thursday night, especially given the events of the last couple of weeks.

We have a great game scheduled in the America East between Vermont and Stony Brook. These two teams are by far the best teams in their conference, and their two games should set the stage for an amazing conference tournament final, assuming they both make it through. Should be a great game.
Rider at #13 Manhattan
#15 Vermont at Stony Brook
We'll also have the Friday Appraisal, where we'll look at the #1-seed chances of Wichita State vs. San Diego State.
