A Just About Upset-Free Night of College Basketball

Believe it or not, there were no major upsets on Wednesday night, though I suppose George Washington winning at Richmond was a minor upset. Then again, GW has been solidly in the bracket thanks to good RPI numbers, the major question mark being GW's efficiency numbers. GW proved itself a bit tonight, heading on the road to take out Spiders squad that still has bracket aspirations (that did take a hit tonight). Otherwise, except for some close calls, things went exactly as planned on Tuesday night. Let's take a look at the scores and a preview for Wednesday's action.

Villanova 82, @Providence 79 (OT) - Nova gets major road scare, Friars miss big opportunity
@Louisville 80, South Florida 54
@Iowa State 85, Texas 76 - good home win for ISU, solid second-place in Big 12
Kentucky 84, @Ole Miss 70
George Washington 73, @Richmond 65 - GW proves itself with good road win, UR in trouble
Kansas 64, @Texas Tech 63 - KU survives tough road test
Duke 68, @Georgia Tech 51
Virginia 57, @Virginia Tech 53
@St. John's 77, Butler 52
@Tennessee 67, Georgia 48
@San Diego State 60, Utah State 45

If I had to point out one game for you on Wednesday night, it would probably be American at Boston for control of the Patriot League. American has slipped as of late, but it beat Boston U in January, and a win would put the teams back in a tie for first with American having a major line on the conference tournament's #1 seed. The action in the Pac-12 should be great as well, as six bracket and bubble teams are in action, including a seventh, Utah, that could still make a push if it finds a way to beat slumping Arizona.

Boston College at #1 Syracuse
Auburn at #1 Florida
#6 Cincinnati at UCF
#3 Saint Louis at George Mason
