Syracuse and Kansas Survive a Slow Monday Night

Needed a break after all that great weekend college basketball action? Then Monday was the night for you, which had a couple of close calls but nothing that would actually change the bracket happened.

Yep, Syracuse nearly lost at Maryland, but they pulled out the win, which is what elite teams do on the road. Kansas struggled with a very good Oklahoma squad for most of the night, but it was able to stay in front, and the Jayhawks pulled away at the end. And Oklahoma State won in Marcus Smart's second game back, but the win didn't mean much.

Syracuse 57, @Maryland 55 - Orange survive tough road test, but must play at UVA next
Oklahoma State 76, @TCU 54 - not much use in beating Horned Frogs
@Kansas 83, Oklahoma 75 - OU hung in for a while, but KU took over late
Southern 87, Alabama State 64

After a not-so big Monday, Tuesday has a number of important games. For those of you watching the bubble rather than seeds, look to Kansas State at Texas Tech, where a loss by KSU could throw it to the edge of the bracket. Or to Xavier at St. John's, where a couple of Big East teams that have been sitting on the bottom half of the bracket or out completely duke it out. And Dayton, who has been hanging around on the out lines, heads to Saint Joseph's, whose great play late has pushed it into the bracket. Tuesday should not be hurting for upsets like Monday was.

#1 Florida at Vanderbilt
Virginia Tech at #2 Duke
#3 Iowa at (FFO) Minnesota
#10 Kansas State at Texas Tech
#10 Xavier at #11 St. John's
#15 North Carolina Central at NJIT
(FFO) Dayton at (LFI) #12 Saint Joseph's
#1 Wichita State at Bradley - Wichita's last road game of 2014 season
Indiana at #3 Wisconsin
Utah State at #8 New Mexico
#10 Missouri at Georgia
San Jose State at #4 San Diego State
