Like most Friday nights, we'll spend most of the recap previewing Saturday.
Out of the four listed below that involved tournament-implicated teams, only two were interesting, as GW and Baylor were expected to win. For Southern Miss, we saw them get a good win over a decent Drexel team. This was a further statement from Southern Miss that they might well deserve an at-large bid. And in another game, VCU continues to try to find ways to prove itself. Although a win over an okay Stony Brook team does not change the position of VCU, wins are all you need when you're on the bubble.

The first Saturday of the conference season provides a lot of major gems, with the majority of bubble teams in action. My favorite part of this time of year is that we'll finally see what teams are made of when they start playing half of their games on the road against similar competition. There will be no more of this nonsense that the team only leaves the gym to go to one pre-season tournament.
