College Basketball Doesn't Stop on Super Sunday

Sure, Sunday was Super Sunday, but college basketball did not take the day off, filling up the time in between. Three games from Sunday might have a major effect on the bracket.

Virginia 48, @Pittsburgh 45: Pittsburgh has been kept aloft in the bracket thanks to its number of win, not necessarily the quality of its wins. Virginia has more losses, but it also has more wins that you would care about. But Sunday's win at Pitt might be UVA's best of the entire year. Road wins are everything in February, and Virginia is surging at the right time.

@Indiana 63, Michigan 52: Despite being played at Indiana, this was a fairly surprising result. The Hoosiers have underperformed all year, and Michigan looked like it was on fire. Instead, we are left wondering whether this Michigan team might return to its early self, the one that lost to Charlotte in Puerto Rico.

@Oregon State 71, UCLA 67: With Brandon Ashley out for the year for Arizona, UCLA looked like it might have a chance to capitalize and challenge for the top spot in the Pac-12. Well, never mind for now. Arizona maintains its two-game lead over UCLA and California thanks to this fairly significant and unexpected upset. Considering how big Cal's win was on Saturday, UCLA might now find itself dropping to third in the Pac-12 when, at once, it looked like it might come away with second and a Top 4 seed.

A couple more scores from an otherwise slow day.

@Cincinnati 50, South Florida 45
@USC Upstate 80, @Mercer 61 - strange loss for Atlantic Sun's best team

On Monday, Syracuse will begin its reign at #1 with a visit from Notre Dame. But Monday's best game is likely Iowa State at Oklahoma State, assuming OK State competes better than it has of late. Also watch as Villanova tries to defend its home court against a very good Xavier squad.

Notre Dame at #1 Syracuse
#9 Xavier at #3 Villanova
#15 Iona at Monmouth
Northeastern at #14 Delaware
South Alabama at #15 Georgia State
#15 North Carolina Central at Maryland Eastern Shore
#4 Iowa State at #4 Oklahoma State
